How to Vacation in Broken Bow, OK!

With Broken Bow, OK being just 2 1/2 hours or less from the DFW/East Texas area. It’s a vacation that you have to book at least once, but chances are you’ll love it and book again year after year! It feels like you’re so much further from home because of the scenic views and the city sitting at the foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains.

We had a wonderful vacation spent with family in Broken Bow, OK a couple of weeks ago! We do an annual trip with my Mom, my siblings, and their kids every New Year’s Eve and it’s something we all look forward to each year!

This trip calls for lots of outdoorsy activities, eating, relaxing, games, and plenty of family time! Which I think is the perfect way to ring in the New Year.

Where to stay:

We booked a cabin with Broken Bow Cabin Lodging this year and they have so many cabins to choose from. My mom chose “Moon Over Paradise” and the owners thought of everything with this cabin! The weather turned out perfect to be able to enjoy all of the amenities. Which included: a basketball court that could be converted to a volleyball/racquetball court, fire pit, cornhole, a playground for the kiddos, outdoor fireplace, and a hot tub! Indoor amenities included: pool table, foosball table, games, puzzles, etc.

Another lodging company that we’ve booked with before is Beavers Bend Creative Escape. They also have several to choose from based on your family’s needs.

What To Do:

If you’re an outdoor enthusiast there are a TON of things to do during your stay. It doesn’t matter if you’re planning a stay for the winter or summer, there’s something for everyone! One of the highlights of our trip was going hiking on Lakeview Lodge Trail. I downloaded the app AllTrails to help us choose which trail would be best for the group we had with us.

BONUS

Last but not least, we had the opportunity to go up in an old fire tower with permission of Oklahoma State Park Rangers that we met the previous day. He gave us a history lesson on how these were used back in the day. This was an experience I’ll never forget. My husband, Mom and I climbed up this (forever long) tower that overlooked all of Broken Bow and had a glimpse of the lake too. Breathtaking views at every corner!

The Takeaway:

If you’re ever looking for an outdoorsy vacation for a quick getaway that’s super close to home, make it Broken Bow, OK! We always have the best time here!

We’ll be back, Oklahoma!

XOXO,

Tayler
